Volunteering at Best Friends™

Share your talent, time, and heart

Best Friends™ volunteers are a vital part of our person-centered care. Volunteers offer their time, talent, and gifts to love and serve our participants at every stage of life.

The Best Friends™ Volunteers are the heart of our Day Center. Many say they get so much more than they give, and are honored to serve as a ‘Best Friend’. We pride ourselves in training on a regular basis and coordinate meetings to discuss participants and identify ways to continually improve care.

Below are just a few testimonials from our Best Friends™ Volunteers

The staff and volunteers at Best Friends™ genuinely care for our Friends and weekly I look forward to being a part of all the fun activities with everyone. People are treated with respect and dignity of which they deserve.

Best Friends™ Volunteer

25 years ago, I stumbled upon a small, local volunteer program for people living with dementia. Over the years, I’ve been humbled by what I’ve learned from those individuals suffering from the disease. Their humor, wisdom, strength, bravery & compassion have helped to make me a better person.
It is an honor, joy & privilege to be allowed to work with this community

The staff is skilled and creative, and the other volunteers give pleasure by their work too.
It also serves as a reminder that Alzheimer’s is no regard of sex, age, education or personality. I see the families who come in for our guests and their gratitude for striving to allow each person to have a meaningful time to the best of each’s abilities.
It is a joyful place and fills me with pleasure to simply be present for my guest at that moment.
